Du Retail Shop in Fujairah awarded LEED green building certification

LEED certification recognizes only those projects that achieve the highest environmental ratings for sustainability; water efficiency; energy and atmosphere; consumption of materials and resources, and indoor environment quality. Based on a point system, the Du Retail Shop exceeded LEED’s standards and was, therefore, awarded Platinum certification.

“It is an honour to have had our extensive efforts towards achieving sustainability recognised by LEED. In our desire to become more green, we applied leading techniques and technologies, so as to be able to reduce the environmental impact of this Shop,” said Abdulhadi Alalyak, Vice President – Asset Management and Corporate Administration, Du.

“Achieving Platinum certification from LEED is a testament to our efforts, however the true reward is in demonstrating that it is possible to open, and run, a successful, environmentally-conscious retail outlet in the UAE.”
